AxiView is a high-performance, scientific-grade LSL (LabStreamingLayer) reader and visualization application designed specifically for BioSemi ActiveThree data acquisition systems. Developed by NEUROSPEC AG, AxiView enables real-time access to physiological data streams for online analysis, monitoring, and experimental control in modern neuroscience and biomedical research environments.
AxiView is intended as a lightweight yet powerful companion tool for researchers working with BioSemi ActiveThree systems who rely on the LabStreamingLayer (LSL) ecosystem. It bridges ActiveThree hardware with network-based analysis pipelines, enabling seamless integration with MATLAB, Python, and other LSL-compatible client environments.
The software is particularly suited for real-time electrophysiology use cases such as EEG, ERP, and ABR research, where deterministic data access and flexible signal visualization are critical.
AxiView is a scientifically robust, LSL-native reader and visualization tool tailored for BioSemi ActiveThree systems. By combining real-time streaming, signal processing, and flexible network-based operation, it provides researchers with an efficient and modern interface for online electrophysiological data analysis without imposing licensing barriers or commercial constraints.
AxiView supports streaming directly from the ActiveThree ring buffer over TCP/IP, allowing continuous data transmission to local or remote clients. This architecture enables:
From ActiView version V104 onward, AxiView natively incorporates LSL streaming and should be used with all ActiveThree systems currently on the market.
Despite its lightweight design, AxiView provides a comprehensive set of real-time processing and visualization tools commonly required in electrophysiological research:
These capabilities make AxiView suitable both as a monitoring interface during data acquisition and as a real-time analytical front end in closed-loop or neurofeedback paradigms.
AxiView allows real-time capture and recording of ActiveThree data on a network-connected computer, supporting heterogeneous system setups across operating systems. This makes it possible to decouple acquisition hardware from processing and storage machines, a common requirement in complex laboratory or clinical installations.
Operating system compatibility:
AxiView LSL Light is distributed free of charge as a complementary utility for the research community. While the application is fully functional, it is provided without source code and without formal technical support or long-term maintenance commitments.
NEUROSPEC AG offers AxiView as a contribution to users of BioSemi ActiveThree systems and to the broader LSL ecosystem. Software updates may be released periodically at NEUROSPEC’s discretion.
For users who find AxiView valuable in their research workflows, a voluntary “coffee for the developer” contribution option is available directly within the application interface, supporting continued development.
