The CNAP® Monitor HD from CNSystems is an advanced, non-invasive monitoring system that provides beat-to-beat blood pressure and hemodynamic parameters in real time. Designed for clinical research, cognitive neuroscience, and physiological studies, the CNAP Monitor offers a reliable alternative to invasive arterial lines, delivering continuous data with high fidelity - without the associated risks.
Through a lightweight, comfortable finger cuff sensor, the CNAP Monitor delivers continuous arterial pressure waveforms (CNAP® waveform), systolic (SYS), diastolic (DIA), mean arterial pressure (MAP), and pulse rate, as well as calibrated upper-arm NBP values. In its HD configuration, it also provides advanced cardiac output and dynamic fluid response parameters, offering a complete, real-time insight into cardiovascular status.
At the core of the CNAP Monitor is CNAP® technology, which builds upon the Volume Clamp Method (VCM) of Penáz and the Physiocal™ algorithm developed by CNSystems. This unique combination enables accurate continuous blood pressure measurement via the finger, while automatically adjusting for vasomotor changes.
The finger cuff applies pressure to the digital artery to clamp the arterial volume, while a photoplethysmographic sensor detects the pulsatile changes. The system maintains the artery in a constant-volume state, allowing the pressure in the cuff to match the true arterial pressure in real time.
Thanks to Physiocal™, the system adapts continuously to changing peripheral vascular tone, ensuring long-term stability and accuracy—even during autonomic testing, cognitive tasks, or movement-related experiments.
This approach provides:
All parameters are measured continuously and non-invasively via the CNAP® finger sensor:
The CNAP Monitor HD is particularly well-suited for:
Its non-invasive design and high-resolution output make it ideal for longitudinal and protocol-heavy studies where patient or subject safety and comfort are a priority.
The CNAP® Monitor is available in two versions — Standard and HD (Hemodynamic) — to support different levels of physiological monitoring. Both versions use the same core CNAP® technology to provide continuous non-invasive blood pressure measurement. The HD version extends functionality to include a full suite of hemodynamic parameters for advanced cardiovascular monitoring.
The CNAP Monitor HD includes all features of the Standard version and adds comprehensive hemodynamic monitoring. It delivers beat-to-beat estimates of cardiac output, stroke volume, and systemic vascular resistance, allowing researchers to assess complete cardiovascular function non-invasively. Providing accurate, real-time blood pressure data without requiring an arterial line. Ideal for research environments where non-invasiveness and waveform-level access are critical.
