Cedrus
Precision Response Pad for Cognitive and Behavioral Research

Riponda is a compact, configurable response pad developed by Cedrus for research applications requiring precise and reliable reaction time measurement. With over 30 years of design experience, Riponda offers millisecond-level timing accuracy, customizable key layouts, and broad compatibility with stimulus presentation software. It is well suited for cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and other experimental paradigms where participant response timing is critical.

Riponda is the sixth-generation response pad from Cedrus and has been built from the ground up with a modern interface and integrated support for key software packages. Whether used in Keyboard mode for wide compatibility or with dedicated software libraries for jitter-free performance, Riponda adapts to both current and evolving experimental needs.

Each Riponda package includes:

  • One Riponda response pad (choose from Model C, L, S, or E)
  • USB-C cable
  • 5 to 8 white lenses (based on model)
  • 5 to 8 clear lenses
  • 1 each of red, green, blue, and yellow lenses
  • Quick start instructions and access to online documentation
  • Software support and access to Cedrus libraries for integration

Optional accessories, such as light sensors and m-pods, are available separately.

System Features

  • Reliable and consistent timing
Custom-built electronics and firmware provide response times of less than 500 microseconds when used with compatible software.
  • Software flexibility
Riponda works natively with SuperLab, Inquisit, E-Prime, Presentation, and others. For custom workflows, Python and C++ libraries are available. It can also be used in Keyboard mode with any software.
  • Four model options
Available in Model C, L, S, and E configurations to suit various experimental designs, including spatial orientation tasks, Likert scales, or ergonomic requirements.
  • Voice and light sensor inputs
Connect an optional microphone for vocal response onset detection or a light sensor to mark stimulus onset visually.
  • Digital event marking
Compatible with Cedrus m-pod and StimTracker for accurate TTL event output to EEG, NIRS, and eye-tracking systems.
  • USB-C connection with switchable modes
Operates in Keyboard (HID) or Standard (Serial) mode. Select data formats and baud rates via DIP switches.
  • Upgradeable firmware
Built on Cedrus’ XID 2.0 platform for long-term expandability and precise control.
